More on Andrea Love...
Soulful...Rich...Earthy...Powerful…
That is the voice of Andrea Love. Influenced by Gospel, with Jazz and R&B overtones, and a vocal range just over 5 octaves - she is undeniably a musical force to be reckoned with.
She has worked with some of music’s hottest producers and artists including E-Smoove, Maurice Joshua, M-Doc, George Duke, Michael Manson, Ledisi, Terisa Griffin, Darius Brooks, Kaye Fox, Typhanie Monique, Byron Stingley and Celeda.
Andrea comes from a musical background - her mother was a singer and piano player for a church in Autaugaville, Alabama, and though her late father couldn’t sing, he could scat better than most Jazz singers. Singing her first solo in church at age 7, she remembers being so excited - and not one ounce of nervousness. “I just wanted to sound just like Shirley Caesar on "Sweeping Through the City" - that recording had so much energy, different from any other Gospel music I’d heard before. So many people came to me afterwards and told me I did a good job, and at that point, I knew I had the potential to make it as a singer.”
In the early nineties, she was given the chance to do lead vocals for her church choir, the Grammy nominated Tyrone Block and the Christ Tabernacle Combined Choirs (Word/Epic) under the Pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Milton Brunson, opening doors for her to sing with Stellar Award-winning Gospel/Jazz duo Allen & Allen (CGI Records), Grammy and Stellar Award winners Albertina Walker, Shirley Caesar, in addition to some of Chicago‘s hottest Gospel choirs and groups including, Tyrone Block and LSD, Visions: A Choral Ministry, Bryant Jones & Chosen and Just Friends.
Though Gospel music has been the main source of inspiration, Andrea explored other music genres based on an ever-growing influence from artists like Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald just to name a few. As a result, she soon began singing with local top Jazz and R&B bands in some of Chicago’s hottest live music night spots.
Through it all, Andrea held true to her Gospel roots, and in 1998 she became a member of the Gospel/Jazz group Masque. She contributed lead and background vocals to their 1999 debut CD entitled “Thank You,” which received a Gospel Stellar Award nomination.
Soon thereafter, she began to work with Grammy nominated remix producer E-Smoove, who, when asked about working with her says, "Andrea is a phenomenal talent and her passion for music is unmatched. I believe our musical connection was sent from heaven". Their meeting resulted in a funky Inspirational House track entitled “Shined On Me” (Praise Cats f/ Andrea Love - Subliminal Records), which has been her biggest international hit to date.
The song was well received in Europe’s Dance/House music scene, often being at the top of most major European Dance/Pop Music charts, and gained two nominations for the 2002 Italian Dance Music Awards, including Best New Dance Artist and Song of the Year. The success of the song also allowed her to perform throughout Europe, including special television appearances on the legendary music show “Hit Machine” in France, and the annual “Festival Bar” in Italy, where she was listed on the same bill with Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch and Shakira.
On music and her career, Andrea says, “My love affair with music is something that's hard to put into words. There is a high that I get when I'm on stage. When I’m performing and I see that people feel it and accept it, there is a euphoric, sensual feeling that makes me invincible, and that feeling is my addiction!
I feel so blessed that I've been chosen to embody the gift of song, and this is only the beginning for me. I believe there is so much more to come. I plan to get into production in the future, but for now, I just want to continue walking in what I know I was truly meant to be before anything else - singing and writing the music of my Life.”
RedSoul's remix of Jazztronik - Samurai (Feat. Charles Dockins) on Pantone Records has been licensed to Louie Vega's new 'In The House' compilation on Defected Records. www.defected.com
Scheduled for full release in early October following a succesful promotional campaign, the 2nd RedSoul release on the legendary 'Look At You' US Record label sees RedSoul enlist the vocal talents of songstress D'Layna - best known for her work with the likes of Kings of Tomorrow.
This song, complete with Enrico Mantini remix and RedSoul Lunar Dub, puts some soul shakin' disco action back onto todays electro-overloaded 'floors!
